Project Summary
The Robbie Waters Pocket-Greenhaven Library is a shared-use facility located on the School of Engineering and Sciences in the Sacramento City Unified School District. It is the first Division of the State Architect (DSA) approved project to utilize rammed aggregate pier (RAP) soil reinforcing. The RAP system was selected to mitigate the potential for seismically induced liquefaction and eliminated the need to remove 30 feet of loose, unconsolidated native soils in an area of high groundwater table. This solution resulted in a construction cost savings of $1,000,000. The library branch received a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver accreditation.
