Project Summary
The new Orange Coast College Recycling Center replaces an aging undersized facility. The Center handles recycled material from the college and the surrounding community and serves up to 300 users every day. The Center is operated by students, thus providing jobs, scholarships and leadership training, in addition to funding support for other student services. In support of the Center’s mission, construction included solar panels and recycled material, and was designed to be a Zero Net Energy project. As of July 2019, the project was the first facility in the world to receive triple certification for its sustainability!
